Joan of Arc was once asked why God spoke only to her. She replied, "Sir, you are wrong, God speaks to everyone. I just listen." In our busy lives, many times it is difficult to hear God's voice. We must take time to be quiet - to be still - to be silent. God desires a personal relationship with us. He longs for two-way communication. Most often He speaks, not in a loud shout, but in a gentle whisper. It can be heard when meditating on Scripture, when surrounded by His creation or when His still small voice whispers to our heart. Desire to listen. He will speak.

May these devotions inspire you to take time to listen to the Good Shepherd.

Julie’s blog posts and devotionals are an extension of her journaling that begun after returning from a medical mission trip to Guyana, South America over 15 years ago. While “out of her comfort zone,” she heard the Lord speak very clearly. Upon returning, she yearned to discern His voice amidst the clamor of everyday life. Julie embarked upon a journey to listen and recorded spiritual insights gleaned from God’s Word in her journal. That journey continues today as she encourages and inspires others to listen and apply God’s truth.
